In 2017 I participated and won the inaguaral Hayward Firefighters Smash for Cash Demolision Derby that was held at the Good Guys Autum Get Togetheter.  I particpated in 3 more derbys until I stopped as it is a young mans sport.  L1909 is still runnign the program and they have pleanty to say about it...  

We are the Hayward Firefighters of Local 1909, and this is our annual “Smash for Cash” Charity Demolition Derby—a firefighter-run event created to bring our community together through dirt, laughter, friendly competition, and a whole lot of smashed cars.

What began as a wild idea shared around a dinner table has grown into one of our favorite traditions and one of the largest community events we host each year. While the crashes, excitement, and entertainment draw the crowds, the true purpose of this event goes far beyond the arena.
